rainy daze and missing busses

My poor babies, I sent them out to the bus today at 7:07 and went to get dressed so the Cable guy could come between 8:00 and 11:00. At 7:48 the glass door opened and I heard someone grab the door knob, I pulled the door open expecting to chastise the cable guy for being so bold…….. and found a freezing wet Emmie, “Mommy the bus hasn’t come yet, but I really need to go potty!” the bus is meant to come between 7:12 and 7:20……. I had her go to the bathroom, pulled on some shoes and hopped in the van and picked Isaac up at the end of the street. We drove to McDonalds because they were going to be too late for school breakfast, then I took them to school and got them there before the first bell. Paul called the bus company and they had trouble with the windshield wipers on the kid’s bus, so they sent out a new bus and driver supposedly 7 minutes late, but the kids said no one stopped at their stop. (Isaac, who had been reading his “Dangerous Book for Boys” book last night, said he stood on the street and hand signaled SOS to all the busses that passed them without stopping……….. I know, odd duck.) So anyway, I don’t know if the new driver got confused and missed their stop and is trying to cover himself or what.

Today sees me home again, still waiting for the cable guy (we called and I didn’t miss him) I am going to buy a watch to hang off the kids backpacks so they know what time it is and don’t ever wait that long again if the driver doesn’t come. I will also be shopping for rain boots to keep little feet Dry on days like this, we had some from last year, but alas little feet are a little less little this year……. Or something like that.

Poor guys! I'm sure they'll both repeat this story for a long while. :-)

they were quite please that they got McDonalds, so I am pretty sure there is no permanent damage!

Apparently Isaac was threatening Emmie with pain of death for coming back home to go potty, or I might have known sooner! So he is now under strict instructions to leave her alone and if she misses the bus because she came home when she shouldn't, I will deal with her, not him.
